PROBATION COMMISSIONER HONORS EMPLOYEES AT SPECIAL
STATE HOUSE CEREMONY

An audience of 150 people turned out to honor 19 Probation Employees for their outstanding work and contributions to the Massachusetts Probation Service Thursday at the State House. Last week’s event, held in the Great Hall, was the fourth annual Probation Employee Recognition Awards Ceremony.

In addition to the honorees’ friends, family and colleagues, state legislators and judges were also on hand to acknowledge the four Assistant Chief Probation Officers, eight Probation Officers, five Support Staff employees and twoAssociate Probation Officers.

This year’s honorees featured Assistant Chief Probation Officers, Probation Officers, Support Staff and Associate Probation Officers.

“In the past, we honored line Probation Officers and Support Staff only. When you hear about the commitment of our honorees to our profession and the real difference they make in the community, you will understand why we are honoring a broader range of employees,” said Commissioner John J. O’Brien. “This group of employees help make our Service run as efficiently as it does.”

The honorees, by county, are:

Barstable County: Christine S. Drew, Barnstable District Court Probation Officer and Kathleen Hunt, Falmouth District Court Probation Office Manager.

Berkshire County: Jean M. Tatro, Northern Berkshire District Court Associate Probation Officer.

Bristol County: Michael Thomas, New Bedford District Court Assistant Chief Probation Officer. Michael Borden, Fall River District Court Probation Officer.

Essex County: Roland Buoncuore, Lawerence, District Court Assistant Chief Probation Officer; Patricia Haines, Peabody District Court Probation Office Manager; Joann Lam, Salem District Court Probation Officer; and Jeremiah V. Murphy III, Essex County Juvenile Court Associate Probation Officer.

Franklin/Hampshire County: Deborah Armstrong, Franklin/Hampshire County Juvenile Court Probation Case Specialist; Brian K. Crowley, Franklin/Hampshire County Juvenile Court Probation Officer; Carol Maher, Holyoke District Court Assistant Chief Probation Officer; Carol Apgar, Northampton District Court Probation Operations Supervisor; and Dolores Gervais, Eastern Hampshire District Court Probation Case Specialist.

Middlesex County: Dennis J. Visconti, Woburn District Court Probation Officer II.

Plymouth County: Kathleen R. Hurrie, Plymouth Superior Court Assistant Chief Probation Officer; and James Quinn, Plymouth Juvenile Court Probation Officer.

Suffolk County: Trina Higgins, Boston Municipal Court-Dorchester Probation Officer.

Worcester County: Candido Diaz, Worcester County Juvenile Court Probation Officer.
