PROBATION CHIEFS CELEBRATE 30 YEARS OF SERVICE

Chief Probation Officers Celebrate 30 years of service

A group of six Chief Probation Officers were recently honored for their 30 years or more of service to the Massachusetts Probation Service at a ceremony held at the Southbridge Conference and Convention Center.

 

The honorees include Pat Kane of Newburyport District Court; Ed Siudut of Norfolk Superior Court; Peter Heymanns of Holyoke District Court; Rita McCarthy of Dedham District Court; Frank Siano of Franklin Superior Court; and Bill Moynihan of Haverhill District Court. Each veteran Probation employee received a plaque from Commissioner John J. O'Brien.

 

"I want to congratulate these fine chiefs for their years of dedicated service as well as acknowledge them for the contributions they have made to the Massachusetts Probation Service over the years," said Commissioner O'Brien.

 

Rita McCarthy, a 37-year Probation employee who is also president of the Massachusetts Probation Chiefs Association, began her employment with the service in 1969 as a Probation Officer. She has held the position of Assistant Chief Probation Officer and was named Chief Probation Officer in 1987.

 

Ed Siudut, a 31-year employee who began his tenure with Probation in 1975, has held the positions of Probation Officer, Assistant Chief Probation Officer, and was named Chief Probation Officer in May 1990 at Norfolk Superior Court. He is a member of the Massachusetts Chief Probation Officers Association.

 

Chief Probation Officers Kane, Heymanns, Siano, and Moynihan all began their Probation careers in 1976.

 

Kane, prior to her appointment as Newburyport District Court Chief Probation Officer in June 2001, served in the capacity of Probation Officer, Assistant Chief Probation Officer, and First Assistant Chief Probation Officer. She is a member of the New England Council on Crime (NECCD) and Delinquency and the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA).

 

Heymanns has served as Probation Officer, Assistant Chief Probation Officer and was named Chief Probation Officer in 1997 at Holyoke District Court. He holds a membership in the Massachusetts Probation Chiefs Association.

 

Siano was formerly a Probation Officer, Probation Officer-In-Charge and later was named Chief Probation Officer in 1988 at Franklin Superior Court. He is a member of the Massachusetts Probation Chiefs Association.

 

Moynihan first joined the service as a Probation Officer. He was named Chief Probation Officer in 1982. He holds memberships in the Massachusetts Probation Chiefs Association, the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA), and the New England Council on Crime and Delinquency (NECCD).
