Springfield District Court Assistant Chief Probation
Officer Margaret E. Oglesby, a United States Army Major, delivered
the keynote address at a Veteran's Day observance at the
Massachusetts State House.
During her remarks, she recognized the women veterans
who served in the armed services and expressed her gratitude
to those women who led the way. Oglesby, a 17-year employee of
the Massachusetts Probation Service, was a captain for the National
Guard Military Police when she was on an eight-month deployment
in Afghanistan during the war in Iraq.
As the captain of the 747th Military Police Guard,
she was in charge of maintaining safety at police compounds.
She managed a staff of 154 soldiers all of whom returned home
safely without any casualties.
Oglesby was awarded the Bronze medal for her service
in Afghanistan.
