In September 2001, the Housing Court issued Standing Order 1-01 which governs the Lawyer for a Day Program (LDP) within its courts.  Through the years the LDP has helped self-represented landlords and tenants, gain access to justice within the housing court.

Working with a Lawyer for the Day at the Housing Court

The Housing Court’s LDP is organized and facilitated by attorneys, who volunteer their time. LDP attorneys are typically available during the morning sessions. Sometimes, an attorney may not be available on dates listed below.  If you wish to use the LDP, be sure to:

  1. check with the clerk’s office to make sure volunteer attorneys are scheduled to appear on the date of your hearing;
  2. bring all your paperwork regarding your case
  3. arrive at the courthouse early to have enough time discuss your issues
