J. Stephen Bjorklund & another, trustees v. Zoning Board of Appeals of Norwell
The issue presented is whether the Land Court judge properly upheld the zoning board's determination that the proposed reconstruction of a single family residence on an undersized lot increased the nonconforming nature of the existing structure and was substantially more detrimental to the neighborhood than the existing structure, where the proposed reconstruction would be significantly larger in footprint and living space than the existing dwelling. See Bransford v. Edgartown, 444 Mass. 852 (2005).

Parties filing amicus briefs are expected to comply with the requirements of Rules 17, 19 and 20 of Mass. Rules of Appellate Procedure. Amicus briefs, to assist the court, should focus on the ramifications of a decision and not solely on the interests of the parties filing such briefs.
