Executive Director


MISSION STATEMENT: 
The Commission on Judicial Conduct is established and governed by Mass. G. L. c 211C.  In accord with the mandate of that statute, the Commission's mission is to enforce standards of judicial conduct for Massachusetts state judges in a manner that, while respecting judicial independence, promotes public confidence in the judiciary and preserves the integrity of the judicial process.  The Commission serves as the forum for complaints alleging misconduct by judges both on and off the bench, and for allegations of mental or physical disability affecting a judge's performance.  The Commission is committed to performing this function in full accord with all procedural and substantive requirements of its governing statute and rules. 

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Commission on Judicial Conduct seeks an experienced, executive level, self-motivated person to serve as Executive Director.  This position involves directing Massachusetts' independent agency tasked with the crucial function of enforcing the standards of judicial conduct, in order to maintain public confidence in the judiciary and preserve the integrity of the judicial process.

DUTIES:  
The Executive Director serves at the direction of the Commission and directs the daily operation of Commission business.

Duties include:

  • Supervises the entire complaint process.
  • Coordinates Commission meetings.
  • Prepares Commission records and budget.
  • Employs and supervises all Commission staff.
  • Represents the Commission in dealing with the public and media, as appropriate.
  • Coordinates the Commission's association with the Supreme Judicial Court, Administrative Justices, General Court, Bar Associations and other interested organizations.
  • Performs such other duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the Commission.

SUPERVISION BY
:  
The Executive Director reports to the Commission on Judicial Conduct.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  
  • Current member of the Massachusetts Bar.
  • Minimum of ten years as a licensed attorney.
  • Significant administrative and supervisory experience.
  • Strong ability to communicate with the public and maintain confidentiality as applicable. 


SALARY:  Executive Management Grade (EXM) -$87,296.26 (Step 1) - $126,003.82 (Step 8).
