Proposed Appeals Court Pilot Program

NOTICE
Proposed Appeals Court Pilot Program
to Require Appealing Party to File a Docketing Statement

The Appeals Court proposes to adopt a pilot program that will require the appealing party to file a docketing statement that contains certain information about the nature of the case.  The program provides one docketing statement for civil appeals and a second for criminal appeals.   The docketing statements will provide the court with important background information that will be useful when the case is entered, screened, and under consideration.  The pilot program format will be used to gain data and determine whether either form should be changed.  The court anticipates posting the forms on the Appeals Court 's website in PDF format.

The full text of the proposed statements are available below.

The Appeals Court welcomes interested persons to submit comments on this proposal.  Comments will be accepted until August 31, 2010.  They should be addressed to Joseph F. Stanton, Clerk, Appeals Court , One Pemberton Square, Suite 1200 , Boston , MA 02108-1705 , or sent by email to:  joseph.stanton@appct.state.ma.us  with the subject header "Comment on proposed pilot program."
