Proposed Revision to Appeals Court Standing Order


NOTICE
Proposed Revisions Standing Order
Governing Petitions to the Single Justice
Pursuant to G.L.c. 231, § 118


      The Appeals Court has proposed a revision to its existing "Standing Order Governing Petitions to the Single Justice Pursuant to G. L. c. 231, § 118 (first paragraph)."  The proposal will expand the scope of the existing standing order to include motions filed pursuant to Mass.R.A.P. 6 to stay judgments and to stay the execution of a sentence.  The revisions will also   require petitioners to file certain documents that are essential to the single justice's screening of the petitions and motions, and also to file a copy of the petition or motion in the trial court.

      The Appeals Court welcomes interested persons to submit comments on this proposal.  Comments will be accepted until August 31, 2010.  They should be addressed to Joseph F.
