Supreme Judicial Court Appoints New Executive Director

     The Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court today announced the appointment of Thomas G. Ambrosino as the Executive Director of the Supreme Judicial Court.  Mr. Ambrosino will assume his new position on January 11, 2012.  

      As Executive Director, Mr. Ambrosino reports to the Chief Justice and Justices of the Court. He will implement the policies set by the Justices and direct the daily administration of the Supreme Judicial Court. The Executive Director will also assist the Justices with the implementation of recent court management reforms. 

     Mr. Ambrosino brings to the Court a breadth of management, legal, financial, and personnel experience in both the public and private sectors. From 2000 to the end of 2011, he served as the Mayor of the City of Revere where examples of his solid record of accomplishments include improving the city's fiscal health by raising its bond rating and increasing the reserves, implementing a major capital improvement campaign, and negotiating and concluding multiple municipal collective bargaining agreements. His private sector experience includes five years as a sole practitioner in his law firm in Revere and nine years as a litigation associate at the law firm of Palmer & Dodge in Boston.

Supreme Judicial Court Initiates Court Administrator Selection Process and Appoints Search Committee Members

     The Supreme Judicial Court today announced that it has initiated its process to recruit and select a Court Administrator for the Massachusetts Trial Court, a new leadership position introduced in recently-enacted legislation. The Justices have issued a summary of the position's responsibilities and challenges along with the required qualifications and competencies for position candidates. They also have formed a search committee of knowledgeable, experienced leaders to assist them with the selection process. A search firm will be recruited to assist the committee. 

     The Justices said they will appoint the Court Administrator early next year to ensure the effective assumption of responsibilities before the legislation becomes fully effective on July 1, 2012.
