Proposal to Amend Supreme Judicial Court Rule 3:03
The Supreme Judicial Court's Steering Committee on Self-Represented Litigants has proposed an amendment to S.J.C. Rule 3:03, Legal Assistance to the Commonwealth and to Indigent Criminal Defendants, and to Indigent Parties in Civil Proceedings. The Proposal, set forth in the attached letter from the Committee, would add the Probate and Family Court to the list of courts which, as a general rule, permit student practice under certain conditions, and remove the Probate and Family Court from the list of courts which make student practice a matter for judicial discretion. The Supreme Judicial Court's Rules Committee invites comments on the proposed amendment. Comments may be directed to Supreme Judicial Court Rules Committee, c/o Christine P. Burak, Secretary, Supreme Judicial Court, John Adams Courthouse, One Pemberton Square, Boston, MA 02108 on or before March 4, 2008. Comments may also be sent to: christine.burak@sjc.state.ma.us.
