Statewide Use of Access and Fairness Survey Launched in Worcester
All court departments located at the Worcester Trial Court participated in the statewide launch there of the Access and Fairness survey for court users on Thursday, March 27.
More than 300 individuals took the time to complete the nationally-developed survey, which includes questions on courthouse accessibility, clarity of forms, attentiveness of staff and fairness of proceedings. Attorneys, litigants, jurors, and probationers are just some of the public users of the court who completed the survey.
The Access and Fairness Working Group met with leaders of the Worcester Trial Court two weeks ago to overview the survey and seek their support in encouraging court users to provide their feedback as they left the courthouse. The cooperation and support of Worcester Trial Court leadership and staff proved instrumental to the success of the survey.
The Working Group is comprised of representatives from all court departments and is planning the implementation of the survey across the state throughout 2008. The Boston Municipal Court Department piloted the survey and implemented it in all eight divisions in 2007.
The survey is one of ten CourTool metrics developed by the National Center for State Courts to evaluate court operations. In 2006, Massachusetts implemented the four metrics that focus on timely and expeditious case management.
