AIS Management PlanIn the fall of 2000, representatives from CZM, the Mass Bays program, the Department of Conservation and Recreation, and many of our other partners convened to form the AIS Working Group and write the AIS Management Plan. The plan was completed in 2002. After receiving public comments, it was approved by the federal Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force, making Massachusetts eligible for federal funds to support and implement the plan through the Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act. Major components of the plan include a description of existing state and federal authorities and programs, a focus on the impacts of invasive species and management priorities, management objectives and actions, and an implementation timeline.
Using this plan, the AIS Working Group develops additional annual work plans designed to implement the management objectives and actions. |
