Identifying Aquatic Invasive Species

To help detect and monitor AIS, CZM funded the development of 20 species identification cards for marine invaders in the Gulf of Maine - which were created by Salem Sound Coastwatch. Of the 20 cards, 13 are already established in the region, and seven are considered potential invaders.

In addition, Appendix E of the AIS Management Plan contains a list of the non-indigenous aquatic species documented in New England as of 2002.
