Recreational BoatingLike commercial shipping, recreational boating is also a vector for Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) because of hull fouling as well as plants that “hitchhike” when entangled on motors or other parts of a boat. AIS may also get transported through bilge pumps and bait buckets. Our partners at the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Department of Fish and Game (DFG) educate boaters about AIS and post signs at many boat ramps across the Commonwealth reminding boaters to keep your boat clean.
