Shanty Ocean Action Center This community resource center, called the Shanty, is sponsored by the Cape Cod Commercial Hook Fishermen’s Association and creates and coordinates educational opportunities for students, fishermen, and the general public on the marine environment, critical ocean issues, and fisheries. The Center presents ocean education lessons in local K-12 classrooms, provides hands-on learning activities at the Shanty for local and out-of-state middle and high school students, conducts tours of working fish piers, conducts curriculum training workshops for teachers, hosts speakers at the Shanty, and provides summer and year-long internships for high school and college students.
