Teacher Training and Professional Development (Curriculum Materials) Professional development classes for teachers are offered regularly during the year. In every teacher training class, content material is linked to Massachusetts science and math frameworks, teachers are given many background resources and model lessons for presenting the topic in class, and much of the learning is interactive and project-based. Teacher training topics include: teaching about estuarine ecology and eutrophication, teaching about renewable energy, methods of field and water sampling with students, coastal processes and modeling these in class, teaching about climate change, basic data analysis with students, teaching about fish and fishing, and water. Classes run from two hours to two weeks in length. Teacher training is based at Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (WBNERR) or at a school, conference, or field site. WBNERR can provide teaching and reference materials for estuarine topics as well as teaching kits on climate change and renewable energy. Contact Information
