BARNSTABLE COUNTY FIREARM TURN-IN PROGRAM

Purpose:
To provide an opportunity and the means for people to turn in found or unwanted guns to prevent them from being used unlawfully. An incentive will be provided for each gun turned in to Cape law enforcement.
Procedure:
Citizens who are in possession of a firearm and wish to turn it in can do so at one of the four designated police departments which will act as repositories:

Individuals who turn in a firearm will be issued a $50 gift card from a local grocery store.
What happens to the guns?
After the serial numbers and identifying information are recorded, the guns will be forwarded to the Massachusetts State Police for destruction.
