Project Safe ChildhoodProject Safe Childhood (PSC) aims to combat the proliferation of technology-facilitated sexual exploitation crimes against children. This initiative is designed to help law enforcement and community leaders develop a coordinated strategy to prevent, investigate, and prosecute sexual predators, abusers, and pornographers who target children, as well as educate parents and children on the importance of Internet safety. PSC will be modeled on the blueprint of the successful Project Safe Neighborhood initiative, a nationwide program started in 2001 to reduce gun crime. As with PSN, PSC creates, on a national platform, locally designed partnerships of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers in each federal judicial district to investigate and prosecute Internet-based crimes against children. With the U.S. Attorney as the conveyor, each local community will be able to design and implement programs that are uniquely tailored to its needs, while maximizing the impact of national resources and expertise. please visit the U.S. Department of Justice's website at: www.projectsafechildhood.gov |
