Welcome to the Children's Advocacy Center
The Child Protection Unit (CPU) of the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office handles all cases of sexual and physical abuse in which the victim is a minor. The unit is comprised of Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs), Victim Witness Advocates (VWAs), and Investigators dedicated to assisting children and families.
Each year in Suffolk County, the CPU reviews over one thousand cases of child abuse. To promote coordination and best serve children and their families, the Child Protection Unit works with professionals from law enforcement, child protective services, medical, counseling, and related fields.
The umbrella organization that unites our work is the
Children's Advocacy Center of Suffolk County. CPU works in partnership with the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) every day to prevent further abuse to children and to bring those who harm children to justice.
