GRAND JURY RETURNS INDICTMENTS IN REVERE MURDER Feb. 13, 2008 A Suffolk County grand jury yesterday returned indictments charging an East Boston man with first-degree murder and related offenses for a double stabbing in Revere that left one man dead and another clinging to life three months ago, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley announced. JOSE SANCHEZ MOZ, 27 (D.O.B. 2/23/80), is expected to be arraigned tomorrow in Suffolk Superior Court for the Nov. 2, 2007, slaying of Jose Amalcar Hernandez Rivera in a friend’s Nahant Avenue apartment. Moz will also be charged with armed assault with intent to murder and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly stabbing a second adult male during the same incident; that man survived his injuries. “State Police homicide detectives and the men and women of the Revere Police Department worked this case aggressively and without pause,” Conley said. “Thanks to their efforts, we’re ready to seek justice for these victims in court.” At about 4:00 on Nov. 2, Revere Police observed the surviving victim suffering from serious stab wounds in the vicinity of a local supermarket. They soon learned that another victim – later identified as Rivera – was also injured, and responded to the Nahant Avenue address to find him grievously wounded. Rivera was transported to Whidden Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. As they are with all homicides in the City of Revere, State Police homicide detectives assigned to Conley’s office were notified and responded to the scene. With the extensive assistance and support of Revere Police officers and detectives, they led the investigation throughout the day. Moz was identified, apprehended, and interviewed late that afternoon; the chief of Conley’s Homicide Unit later approved a warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody on a murder charge. Moz has been held without bail since his Nov. 5 arraignment in Chelsea District Court.
