REMARKS FROM DISTRICT ATTORNEY DANIEL F. CONLEY ABOUT THE FERNWOOD AVENUE HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION Revere City Hall Feb. 25, 2008 Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley today released the following statement on the homicide of Lisa Bryson Roche, 42, in her Fernwood Avenue home earlier today: “This afternoon at about 3:15, Revere Police responded to 35 Fernwood Ave. for a domestic violence call. On arrival inside the premises, they found Lisa Bryson Roche, age 42, suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. The officers also observed her son, 23-year-old CORY ROCHE (D.O.B. 6/15/84) of Lynn, armed with a knife. “In the moments that followed, Roche was ordered to drop his weapon. That order went unheeded, and an officer discharged his department-issued firearm in self-defense, striking Roche in the torso. “Both Ms. Roche and her son were rushed to an area hospital. Ms. Roche was pronounced dead on arrival, and Roche remains in stable condition with a gunshot-related injury. He is expected to survive. The officer who discharged his weapon was not physically injured, but underwent observation as a precautionary measure and has been released. “As they are for all homicides in the City of Revere, State Police detectives assigned to my office were notified shortly after the incident. They responded soon afterwards and remain at the scene at this hour. The residence has been sealed pending the execution of a search warrant, and numerous interviews will continue through the night with the invaluable assistance and cooperation of the men and women of the Revere Police Department. Together, we will investigate Ms. Roche’s tragic final moments until the facts and circumstances of are known and we can speak for her in a court of law. “In the days to come, however, I would ask that you understand the family’s need for privacy. They have suffered an awful tragedy and we will brief you as details become available through interviews and the ongoing investigation. “Thank you.”
