REVERE MURDER SUSPECT HELD WITHOUT BAIL

Feb. 26, 2008

A Chelsea District Court judge today ordered a Lynn man held without bail following his hospital bed arraignment on charges that he fatally stabbed his mother in her Revere home.

Judge Timothy Gailey presided over the arraignment of CORY ROCHE, 23 (D.O.B. 6/15/84), in the defendant’s Massachusetts General Hospital room, where he was formally charged with the murder of 42-year-old Lisa Bryson Roche and a count of armed assault with intent to murder for actions inside the victim’s home that prompted a responding Revere Police officer to discharge his service weapon in self-defense.

Revere Police responded to the Fernview Avenue residence yesterday afternoon after receiving a 911 call from inside the home. On arrival, they found the victim grievously injured and suffering from multiple stab wounds. They also encountered Roche, who was clutching a knife and refused multiple orders to drop it. He was shot once. Both victim and suspect were rushed to area hospitals; the victim succumbed to her injuries.

Roche was represented at today’s proceedings by attorney Robert Wheeler. He will return to court on March 28.
