Distracted Driving- National Driving Statistics for 15-20 year olds

According to a 2006 report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 15-20 year olds.

Young drivers, age 15-20 account for 6.4 percent, (13.0 million), of the total licensed drivers in the United States.

In 2006, 12.9 percent, (7,463), of all the drivers involved in fatal crashes were between
15 and 20 years old.

In 2006, 25 percent of young drivers (ages 15-20) who were killed in crashes had blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels of .08 or higher at the time of the crash.
