Landlord Notification Process





  • Review of police arrest reports


  • Investigate to determine the owner of the property


  • Certified letter sent to the property owner notifying him/her of drugs on the premises


  • The letter explains the MGL Chap. 139 Sec. 19 & 20. The landlord has the right to seek eviction of the tenant and his failure to do so may subject him/her to criminal prosecution


  • Landlords are also provided with a contact person from the police department who will be available to present evidence in court


  • Repeated drug arrest will result to a second certified letter going out to owner


If no action is taken by the landlord after repeated drug arrest,
it will result in the filing of a criminal complaint. Under MGL 139 Sec. 20
