As the chief law enforcement official in Plymouth County, District Attorney Cruz is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Plymouth County.
The primary responsibility of the District Attorney’s Office is to prosecute criminal offenses that occur within the county.
The Family Protection and Domestic Violence Units, within the District Attorney’s Office, have been designed to enhance the prosecution of domestic violence and sexual assault cases, as well as address the specific needs of the victims. Assistant District Attorneys and Victim Witness Advocates that have received specialized training in domestic violence and sexual assault are assigned to follow each case from arraignment through disposition.

Plymouth County Sheriff Joseph D. McDonald, Jr.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in Massachusetts. The three primary responsibilities of Sheriff McDonald is to operate the Plymouth County Correctional Facility; assist in Public Safety throughout the county; and to oversee the delivery of legal documents needed to support the operation of the courts.
Through comprehensive community partnerships, the Sheriff’s Department will provide progressive and cost effective law enforcement services.

Brockton Family and Community Resources
Brockton Family and Community Resources provide services for children, adolescents and adults. BF&CR specializes in mental health, substance abuse and domestic violence services. These services are provided in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole, as well as hearing impaired.

Womansplace Crisis Center
Womansplace Crisis Center is a non-profit organization which is committed to working towards the elimination of violence against women and children through direct services, education and social activism. Womansplace Crisis Center offers free confidential services to women and children who have experienced sexual assault and/or domestic violence. These services are provided in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole.

South Shore Women’s Resource Center
South Shore Women’s Resource Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to end domestic violence by providing support and education to victims, their families, and the community. South Shore Women’s Resource Center offers services for victims of domestic violence and their children. Their areas of specialty are: Emergency Safe Home Services, Counseling and Advocacy.
