STATE ISSUES REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS FOR NEW

SOUTH COAST DISCOVERY CENTER

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) today announced that it has issued a Request for Proposals for the creation of the new South Coast Discovery Center at Fall River Heritage State Park. The Center will be created by renovating and renaming the Park’s Visitors Center.

DCR’s vision for the new Center includes static and changing exhibits, space for meetings, banquets and other functions, and a continuous video presentation in the 125-seat theater featuring short films about local natural, historic and cultural attractions, interspersed with information for tourists and visitors.

Made possible by the Friends of Fall River Heritage State Park, the project is now feasible due to the recently-completed repairs to the Visitors Center that will allow it to remain open year-round.

Interested parties are encouraged to attend the information session on the project, which will be held in the theater of the Fall River Heritage State Park Visitors Center on Thursday, November 30 at 6:30 p.m.
