Division of State Parks and Recreation
West Region
The Mount Everett State Reservation Summit RMP was adopted by the DCR Stewardship Council on March 2, 2006.
Mount Everett is located in the Town of Mount Washington in the
southwestern corner of Massachusetts, bordering New York and Connecticut.
With an elevation of 2,624 feet (795 meters), the summit of Mount
Everett is the tallest mountain in the southern Berkshires. The
Appalachian Trail traverses the summit. In addition to AT trail
users, local residents and visitors hike to the summit for panoramic
views, wildlife viewing, and the enjoyment of its natural setting.
Extensive scientific studies have documented a unique and highly
significant pitch pine natural community at the summit, including
vegetation, lichen, moth, and other wildlife species unique and
uncommon, including state-listed protected rare species. The summit
is a portion of the 1,675-acre Mount Everett Reservation.
