Saturday, May 17 - Southeastern MA: Myles Standish State Forest CCC & Park Serve Day Event, Fearing Pond, Plymouth. The Friends of Myles Standish host a morning volunteer activity as part of DCR’s statewide Park Serve Day. At 12 noon, the Friends sponsor a community barbeque at Fearing Pond,(the last remaining CCC-built log bathhouse in the Mass.) Bring a picnic lunch or buy some barbeque. The afternoon features a CCCalumni recognition program, nature activities, and a CCC alumni history tent. Saturday, May 31 - Central MA: CCC Day Event, Wendell State Forest Saturday, 10am-3pm. Explore the life and times in the CCC! Event includes a living history army tent and camp, exhibits and hands-on activities, CCC tools, fire control demonstrations, Smokey Bear, CCC alumni recognition program. CCC alumni are welcome to share stories about life in the Corps. Bring a picnic lunch, grills are available. Saturday, October 11 - Northeast MA: CCC Day Celebration, Upton State Forest, Upton - Sponsored by the Friends of Upton State Forest, featuring historical CCC indoor-outdoor displays and family activities, hikes, letterboxing, flagpole dedication, ribbon-cutting for “CCC Way” and a ceremony to honor CCC alumni and family. Refreshments available. Event coincides with “Footsteps in History” weekend for Blackstone River Valley.
