| The 3.1+ million acres of public and private forest lands across the Commonwealth represent a highly significant natural resource of enormous ecological and social value to the public.
Recognizing the broad range of interests that connect to the stewardship and management of Massachusetts forests, DCR is committed to the open and transparent sharing of information about our agency’s forestry policies, programs, and practices and to engaging the public in dialogue as we plan for the future of our forest lands. Public meetings are a key part of the process that supports these objectives. This spring, with a focus on forests under our care and control, DCR is launching an extensive and robust public involvement process, inviting input from citizens and organized stakeholder groups on the stewardship and management of our state forest lands for generations to come. At the culmination of the process, a set of recommendations will be presented to DCR.
