The Charles River Reservation stretches along both banks of the river from downtown Boston to Riverdale Park in West Roxbury.

For events at DCR's Hatch Shell: The Hatch Shell is located on the East End of Storrow Drive, not far from the Mass General Hospital.

By public transport: Take any MBTA Red Line train to the Charles Street/MGH station. Take the footbridge over Storrow Drive to the Charles River side and go West along Storrow Drive. The Hatch Shell is a short walk from here. Alternatively, take any Green Line train to the Arlington Street Station. Walk along the Public Garden/Arlington Street to Beacon Street. Cross over Beacon Street and take the Arthur Fiedler Footbridge over Storrow Drive to the Hatch Shell.

For the Charles River Basin: There is public parking off Soldiers Field Road and Everett St (between the Publick Theatre at Herter Park, 1175A Soldiers Field Rd, Brighton, and Artesani Playground)

From the West: Take the Mass Pike (Rte. I-90) to exit 18 for Cambridge/Allston/Brighton. Remain on the right hand side of the off-ramp split until you come to a traffic intersection (Doubletree Suites on the right). Get into the left lane and take a left turn onto the access road for Storrow Drive/Soldiers Field Road Westbound (Do NOT cross the river). Once on Soldiers Field Road remain in the middle lane as the road curves around Harvard Athletic Fields. The parking lot entrance will be 500 yards on the right after the athletic fields.

From North/South: Take Rte. I-93 to the Mass Pike Rte I-90 west. Travel westbound to Exit 18 - Cambridge/ Brighton/Allston. Follow signs to Cambridge. At first lights cross roadway and immediately take left down onto Storrow Drive (do not cross river). Follow to Soldiers Field Road. Road will fork, stay left. The parking lot entrance will be 500 yards on the right after the athletic fields.

From Boston: Take Storrow Drive West. Pass the Harvard Square exit and then get in the left lane. Bear left at the Rte. 2 interchange onto Soldier's Field Road, following the signs for Newton (do not cross the Eliot Bridge to Cambridge).

For the Upper Charles River Reservation: Parking is available for users of the pool and the greenway at Dealtry Memorial Pool, Pleasant Street, Watertown; also off Pleasant Street at DCR's Catalonga Park (next to Boston Scientific).

For the Lakes District and Forest Grove, parking is available at the Woerd Avenue boat launch in Waltham. Follow Rte. 30 east to Lexington Street. Turn left onto Lexington Street which turns into Moody Street. Turn left onto Crescent Street and take first left onto Woerd Avenue. Boat ramp is on right.
