Architecture Section
The Architecture Section within the Bureau of Planning and Resource Protection provides guidance for programming, design, and construction of buildings and facilities, carries out management duties, and oversees new building construction and renovation. It also provides technical assistance to other groups within the agency.
From pools and bandshells, to visitor centers and clean energy projects, the Architecture Section is involved with a broad range of spatial challenges that it addresses by:
- Completing short term building analyses and programming studies.
- Developing and managing Master Plans for buildings and sites.
- Preparing design documents for new or renovated buildings.
- Overseeing design and construction of new or renovated DCR facilities.
- Providing expertise and information on code issues, ADA issues, historic building renovation techniques, energy conservation and sustainable building practices.
- Oversight of Leading By Example (LBE) program initiatives, focusing on planning and initiating agency-wide measures to reduce energy consumption, increase recycling, and promote sustainable practices and the use of environmentally preferable products.
- The Architecture Section is responsible for all DCR coordination with DCAM.
