Historic Landscape Bibliography

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is pleased to provide this Historic Landscape Bibliography, intended primarily for use by those seeking practical information and technical assistance. Some sources of general historical and academic interest are also included.

Many of the following sources are books produced by mainstream publishing houses that may be available in libraries or bookstores. Information on how to obtain some of the less easily acquired references, such as government publications, is provided. As noted, some references are available in their entirety for download on the Internet. Web sites that provide general information and technical assistance about landscape preservation are included in our links (see navigation at left).

The bibliography is organized by subject. Scroll through the bibliography or click below to go directly to a section that interests you.
