The Executive Office of Environmental Affairs
works to protect the environment of Massachusetts through community
preservation, open space protection, biodiversity, environmental
education, pollution prevention and control, and the Massachusetts
Massachusetts Division of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Environmental
Law Enforcement - Habitat and Land Protection Program
The Department's land stewardship team works
to identify, evaluate, and acquire top-quality fish and wildlife
habitat and natural communities in the Commonwealth.
Massachusetts Department of Food and Agriculture - Bureau of
Land Use/Agricultural Preservation Restriction Program
The Bureau of Land Use administers the Agricultural
Preservation Restriction Program which protects prime farmland from
Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program
The goal of this program is the protection of
the state's wide range of native biological diversity. Progress
towards this goal is accomplished through biological field surveys
and research, data management, environmental impact review, rare
species recovery and ecological restoration of key habitats, land
protection and education.
EOEA Division of Conservation Services
Provides technical and financial assistance
to farmers in matters dealing with farm plans or sediment and erosion
control: grants to municipalities for conservation and parkland
acquisition construction, development of open space plans and technical
assistance in seeking approval of conservation restrictions.
DCR Conservation Trust
Provides a mechanism through which visitors,
businesses, and foundations can protect and improve Massachusetts
state forests and parks directly. Tax-deductible contributions to
the Trust can be earmarked for a favorite forest or park, or for
a favorite program.

The Office of Travel and Tourism provides a
comprehensive list of popular destinations, outdoor adventures,
events, trip planning, and lodging opportunities throughout the
Massachusetts Land Trust Coalition
The MLTC is an informal association of Massachusetts'
land trusts and conservation organizations. The website provides
a list of local, regional, and state land trusts in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions
The MACC has been working in community conservation
since 1961. Their goal is to protect wetlands and open space through
education and advocacy.
Massachusetts Watershed Coalition
The Coalition is a network of local organizations
that are committed to the protection, sound management and enhancement
of Massachusetts's rivers and watershed ecosystems.
United States Fish and Wildlife Service
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is the principal
Federal agency responsible for conserving, protecting and enhancing
fish, wildlife and plants and their habitats for the continuing
benefit of the American people.
National Park Service
The National Park Service works to preserve,
unimpaired, the natural and cultural resources and values of the
national park system for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration
of this and future generations. The Park Service cooperates with
partners to extend the benefits of natural and cultural resource
conservation and outdoor recreation throughout this country and
Massachusetts Audubon Society - News and Action -Legislative
The mission of Massachusetts Audubon Society
is to protect the nature of Massachusetts - to maintain, protect,
restore, and enhance native plants, animals, and habitats. The overriding
legislative priority of the Society will be to analyze the state
environmental budget, work to maintain important environmental programs,
and restore funding for threatened programs.
Environmental League of Massachusetts
The Environmental League of Massachusetts is
dedicated to protecting the air, water, and land for the people
of the commonwealth. They do this by voicing citizens' concerns,
advocating for strong environmental laws, and ensuring that our
laws are implemented and enforced.
