The following projects were completed in Fiscal Year 2002 ( July
1, 2001 – June 30, 2002 ). With the help of our partners,
just over 11,385 acres of land were acquired or protected. DEM acquired
most of these properties outright, through "fee acquisition."
The remaining projects were protected through conservation restrictions
(which essentially remove the right to develop a property).
