Current look of the unpainted Iron Rangers located throughout our state forests and parks system.
In 2003, artist and Moore State Park Friends Group member Marjorie Greenberg asked if she could paint the park's Iron Ranger. Here is the tree stump design Marjorie submitted.
Her design was accepted. Marjorie painted the Iron Ranger as a pilot project to see how the paint would stand up to the New England weather.
The paint on the Iron Ranger has withstood the test of time. It’s still beautiful and annual donations have more than doubled since it was painted.
DCR would like to enhance the look of all the Iron Rangers. DCR is seeking artists to paint these Iron Rangers that receive financial contributions to benefit our state forests and parks system.
