Sudbury Reservoir Watershed System Access Plan Update

The Department of Conservation and Recreation Division of Water Supply Protection (formerly the Metropolitan District Commission Division of Watershed Management) owns 4,943 acres of land in the watershed of the Sudbury Reservoir and Framingham Reservoirs Nos. 1, 2 & 3, collectively referred to as the Sudbury Reservoir Watershed System. These watersheds are managed primarily for water quality protection, drinking water supply, and environmental resource protection purposes. The Metropolitan District Commission Division of Watershed Management Sudbury Reservoir Watershed System Public Access Plan Update 2002 explains the policies and outlines control measures to be used to mitigate impacts from public access on those lands. This Plan includes policies for common recreational activities that occur on the land and water resources in the Sudbury Reservoir Watershed System. This update builds upon the information provided in the 1994 Public Access Plan for the MDC Sudbury Watershed and uses current regulations and legislation to outline policies for public access to DCR property in Ashland, Framingham, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Northborough, Southborough, and Westborough. MDC/DWM will begin implementation of the MDC/DWM Sudbury Reservoir Watershed System Public Access Plan Update 2002 in January, 2003..
