21 Section 16: Persons engaged in the business of digging or
drilling wells.
State Regulations 313 CMR 3.00 (as amended
in 1997): Registration of well drillers and filing of well completion
reports.
Policy Update
DCR is in the process of revising its regulations associated with the Registration of Well Drillers and Filing of Well Completion Reports, 313 CMR 3.00 et seq. Pending finalization or certain anticipated revisions which will further clarify the definition of the term “Engage in the Business,” companies may engage in the business of well drilling in Massachusetts if they either: (1) satisfy the current definition of “Engage in the Business” and comply with all other requirements of 313 CMR 3.00 or (2) Otherwise comply with the requirements of 313 CMR 3.00 and employ a Massachusetts registered well driller subject to certain requirements.
