For his support and contributions to the Station's success, Senator William X. Wall was honored with the Lawrence Experiment Station Centennial Award in 1987. In 1993, the Lawrence Experiment Station was rededicated as the Senator William X. Wall Experiment Station. William X. Wall (1904-1993) of Lawrence served for nearly 40 years as a Democrat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Senate beginning in 1943. Prior to his sudden death in 1993, he was a Lawrence City Councillor-at-Large. The renaming of the Station for Senator Wall was authorized by the Massachusetts legislature. Shown in the lower right photograph are members of the Wall family.
