Gases, particles and toxics in the air we breathe can harm our lungs and threaten our health. Some air pollutants, known as greenhouse gases, form an atmospheric "blanket" that traps heat and causes severe and unstable weather. MassDEP is working continuously to reduce the risks posed by air pollution and climate change.
