U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) State Greenhouse Gas Inventory Tool (SGIT)

Estimates of 1990-2005 greenhouse gas emissions presented in the Proposed 1990 Baseline & 2020 Business As Usual Projection are from the SGIT (see the Microsoft Excel file below). The methodologies used by SGIT are described in the appendices to EPA's Inventory of U.S. Greenhouse Gas Emissions & Sinks: 1990-2007. For more information about SGIT, see EPA's web site or contact Andrea Denny (EPA) at denny.andrea@epa.gov.

In the Proposed 1990 Baseline & 2020 Business As Usual Projection, SGIT default settings were the sole source of estimates, except for the Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution sectors (in SGIT's Natural Gas and Oil Systems Module). The second and third tabs of the file below contain data on the miles of pipeline and number of compressor stations in Massachusetts, which were used to estimate greenhouse gas emissions associated with these sectors.
