Through a competitive grant program, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) offered funds to municipalities and private waste haulers to equip eligible diesel waste collection vehicles with pollution control devices, or retrofits, to reduce tailpipe pollutants. 

Funding was available to retrofit diesel waste and recycling trucks.  Municipalities and waste haulers were eligible to apply.  The application deadline was Friday, March 12, 2010.
