APH Method Workgroup Meeting Notes: April 2008

APH Analyte List     

1.  Pending confirmation by vendors, naphthalene will still on the APH analyte list and included in the MassDEP standard gas mixture for APH.
2.  Indene, Hexylcyclohexane, 2-Methylnaphthalene and 1-Methylnaphthalene will be excluded from the APH Analyte List.
3.  Don Muldoon will follow up with vendors to provide confirmation that a certified gas standard based on the revised APH analyte list can be provided at concentrations (ug/m3) specified. 

Sample Collection and Handling                 

Appendix 5 and Section 8.0 has been revised and posted on web page.  Alyson Fortune will review and provide final edits. 

Gas-Phase Calibration and Analysis

Andy Rezendez/Alpha revised Section 7.0, Reagents and Standards.  Andy will provide a working copy of Section 9.0, Analytical Method to workgroup on or before 16 May 2008 for posting on the web page before next meeting.

Passivated Canister Cleaning and Maintenance Procedures  

Todd Kopyscinski/Contest revised Section 8.1 and Appendix 4, the canister cleaning and maintenance guidance reflecting the current standard practices and technology used in commercial laboratories for batch cleaning.  Additional work group comments or suggestions should be provided by next meeting.

Next Meeting                 

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 10 June 2008 at  MassDEP's Regional Office in Worcester (Concord Room).  The meeting will start promptly at 9:15 a.m.

Deliverables     

1.  Alyson Fortune's comments on Sampling Appendix 5 and Section 8.0.
2.  Andy Rezendez revision of Sections 9.0 of the APH Method.
3.  Final comments on Section 8.1 and Appendix 4, canister cleaning
4.  Don Muldoon will develop vendor specifications for new APH standard.
