"White Knight" Provision Effective
12/14 - MCP revisions providing a mechanism for re-establishing response action deadlines when qualified parties assume responsibility for performing work (so called "White Knight" provision) are now in effect. A new form, BWSC - 107D, has been created which may be used by persons seeking to re-establish response action deadlines under this provision. Web page
MCP Revisions
12/14 - MCP amendments and technical corrections were published in the Massachusetts Register on December 14, 2007. The new provision at 310 CMR 40.0570 (Requirements for Eligible Persons, Eligible Tenants or Other Persons Seeking to Re-Establish Response Action Deadlines) went into effect on December 14, 2007. The remaining provisions go into effect on February 14, 2008. The official electronic MCP version that incorporates these amendments and technical corrections will be posted once it is available. Electronic Submittal of Remedial Monitoring Report Required
9/1 - The Remedial Monitoring Report (RMR), the transmittal form submitted with the RMR, BWSC105 (IRA), BWSC106 (RAM), BWSC108 (CRA), and BWSC119 (URAM) and the supporting documentation must now be submitted electronically. The Transition Period where RMRs could be submitted either electronically or on paper ended 9/1/07. RMRs submitted on paper will now be returned to the submitter. Web page

Technical Assistance Grants Available
7/13 - MassDEP is pleased to announce the return of the Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) Program for hazardous waste disposal sites. Grants of up to $10,000 will be competitively awarded to selected communities and citizen groups to provide expert advice and public education about hazardous waste site cleanup activities. Web page

Transition Period Extended for Electronic Submittal of Remedial Monitoring Report
6/5 - On or after April 3, 2007, all Remedial Monitoring Report Transmittals must be submitted electronically to MassDEP . However, MassDEP will continue to accept RMRs (the transmittal form, and the RMR checklist or printed copies of the electronic RMR Form) submitted on paper by mail until September 1, 2007. After September 1, 2007, RMRs submitted on paper will be returned to the submitter. Web page

1/9 - MassDEP is making available a KML/KMZ file containing location information for sites closd with an Activity and Use Limitation.
