MassDEP/LSPA LSP Training Seminar

On Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM registration will open for the upcoming course entitled "Revised CAM: What You Need to Know" being held on December 16, 2009 at the Forefront Conference Center in Waltham, MA.

Please note that LSPs who took this course for CEU credit at the UMass Soils Conference (10/09) are not eligible to take the course again.

The LSP Board has approved this course for 4 hours of LSP "DEP/Regulatory" continuing education credit (Course #1388). The price for the sessions is $200 for members and $250 for non-members. The course will begin at 8:00 AM and end at 12:00 PM. Onsite check-in begins at 7:30 AM.

Fall 2009 MCP Audit Case Study Training - Homework

The MCP Audit 2009 - A Case Study Approach:  Training Materials
This year's Audit Case Study Training will focus on reviewing one case study in depth concentrating on site activities from Phase III through Phase V.   The first hour of the course consists of at home review of the Phase II Report to get an overview of the site issues and the completion of a questionnaire provided by MassDEP.

"Homework" - To be Completed Prior to Seminar Date
 > Review the Phase II Report 
 > Complete the MassDEP 2009 Audit Case Study Questionnaire (last page of PDF file).  There are no right or wrong answers for this particular case, but please come to the training prepared to:
             - Briefly discuss the conceptual site model; and,
              -Make independent suggestions for possible Remedial Alternatives that could be considered for the site.

As stated by the LSP Board Course Approval Letter:  LSPs must present the course provider proof of homework completion prior to attending course # 1207-09.  If unable, the Board requests no Continuing Education Credits for the course.  Therefore, please complete the questionnaire, in writing, and bring it with you to the seminar to be handed in at registration. 

The Phase II documents will not be distributed at the seminar.

The price for the sessions is $125 for all attendees. The course will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m.  Required Homework must be completed prior to attending the course.

AULs:  Achieving Compliance and Demystifying DEP Enforcement of MGL. c. 21E and the MCP

Registration will open on Thursday, September 10, 2009 for AULs: Achieving Compliance and Demystifying DEP Enforcement of MGL c. 21E and the MCP, which will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the MassDEP Western Regional Office  located at 436 Dwight Street in Springfield, MA.

The LSP Board has approved this course for 2.0 hours of "DEP Regulatory" Credit (Course #1389). This is a new course, which has not been offered previously. The seminar begins promptly at 9:00 AM and ends at 11:00 AM. Onsite check begins at 8:30 PM. This seminar is limited to 50 attendees. The price is $25 for all attendees.

Registration will open for the seminar on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.: Managing Risk in Contaminated Wetlands, which will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the MassDEP Northeast Regional Office, 205B Lowell Street, Wilmington, MA, telephone 978-694-3200.

The LSP Board has approved this course for 2.0 hours of "DEP Regulatory" Credit (Course #1387). This is a new course, which has not been offered previously. The seminar begins promptly at 5:00 PM and ends at 7:00 PM. Onsite check begins at 4:30 PM. This seminar is limited to 50 attendees. The price is $25 for all attendees. The deadline to register for this seminar is Wednesday, September 23, 2009.

On Thursday, April 30, 2009 registration will open for one session of the upcoming seminar "Level II Audits of Activity and Use Limitations (AULs) - A Case Study Approach"  to be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009, MassDEP Southeast Regional Office, Lakeville, MA.  The LSP Board has approved this course for 2 hours of LSP "DEP/Regulatory" continuing education credit (Course # 1376). This is a new course that has not previously been offered.  The purpose of this workshop is to discuss regulatory requirements and standard of care issues related to the audit of sites with Activity and Use Limitations (AULs) at disposal sites.
