Please see the UMass Soils Conference registration information at http://www.umasssoils.com/ for the October 15 session.

COURSE OBJECTIVE: This course will focus on audit Case Study reviews and discussion of findings. The objective of the course is to provide an innovative and informal training program that allows both MassDEP and the regulated community to "open up the lines of communication" regarding the application of the MCP using "real world" case studies in a small setting environment.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The class will spend the first two hours of the course reviewing and discussing the case studies in small groups.  The object of these discussions is to become familiar with the details and technical issues of each case study and to review issues regarding compliance with the MCP highlighted in the MassDEP preparatory case study materials. Designated members of the LSPA will proctor the discussions.

The group will then conduct an "audit" of the case study led by MassDEP staff. The class will be divided into small groups enabling all attendees (MassDEP auditors and LSPs) the opportunity to participate in the discussion and development of a hypothetical audit finding. At the conclusion, a discussion of lessons learned will be summarized and the actual notice of audit findings issued by the Department will be distributed and reviewed.
