MassDEP/LSPA LSP Training Seminar

11/2-On Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM registration will open for two sessions of the upcoming course entitled "Remediation Waste Management." These sessions will take place on the following dates:
Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at the Holiday Inn in Taunton, MA
Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at the Westford Regency Inn & Conference Center in Westford, MA
The LSP Board has approved this new course for 8 hours of LSP "DEP/Regulatory" continuing education credit (Course #1394).

9/9 - The Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee will meet on October 1.

MassDEP/LSPA Training Seminar
AULs:  Achieving Compliance and Demystifying DEP Enforcement of MGL. c. 21E and the MCP

9/3 - Registration will open on Thursday, September 10, 2009 for "AULs: Achieving Compliance and Demystifying DEP Enforcement of MGL. c. 21E and the MCP", which will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the MassDEP Western Regional Office  located at 436 Dwight Street in Springfield, MA.

The LSP Board has approved this course for 2.0 hours of "DEP Regulatory" Credit (Course #1389). This is a new course, which has not been offered previously. The seminar begins promptly at 9:00 AM and ends at 11:00 AM. Onsite check begins at 8:30 PM. This seminar is limited to 50 attendees. The price is $25 for all attendees.

MassDEP/LSPA Training Seminar:  Managing Risk in Contaminated Wetlands,

8/31 - Registration will open for the seminar on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.: Managing Risk in Contaminated Wetlands, which will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the MassDEP Northeast Regional Office, 205B Lowell Street, Wilmington, MA, telephone 978-694-3200.

The LSP Board has approved this course for 2.0 hours of "DEP Regulatory" Credit (Course #1387). This is a new course, which has not been offered previously. The seminar begins promptly at 5:00 PM and ends at 7:00 PM. Onsite check begins at 4:30 PM. This seminar is limited to 50 attendees. The price is $25 for all attendees. The deadline to register for this seminar is Wednesday, September 23, 2009.

MassDEP/LSPA LSP Training Seminar

8/20 - On Thursday, August 27, 2009 registration will open for the upcoming course entitled "The MCP Audit 2009 - A Case Study Approach." The sessions will take place on the following dates:

Monday, October 19, 2009, UMass Amherst MCP Audit 2009, Amherst, MA  (Attendees must register through the UMass Soils Conference website www.umasssoils.com)
Wednesday, November 18, 2009, MassDEP Southeast Regional Office, Lakeville, MA
Wednesday, December 9, 2009, MassDEP Northeast Regional Office, Wilmington, MA

The LSP Board has approved this course for 4 hours of LSP "DEP/Regulatory" continuing education credit (Course #1207-09). This is a repeat course. The price for the sessions is $125 for all attendees. The course will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m.  Required Homework must be completed prior to attending the course.

MassDEP is Awarded $1 Million in FY09 EPA Brownfields Assessment Funds

5/28 - The grant will be used to assist communities associated with the Brownfields Support Team initiative and at other projects around the state. Fifteen other Massachusetts grantees will receive an additional $6 million in FY09 EPA brownfields funding.

Notification of a Non-eDEP Electronic Submittal

5/14 - BWSC has posted the new transmittal form, BWSC125 Notification of a Non-eDEP Electronic Submittal that must be completed when making a non-eDEP electronic submittal. The BWSC125 Notification should be used when: 1. the person making the submittal does not have internet access; 2. there is an eDEP problem; or 3. the supporting documentation could not be uploaded. See the BWSC125 Notification form for more detailed instructions.

Please note:  After July 1, 2009, non-eDEP electronic submittals will be not longer be accepted by the regional offices without the BWSC125 Notification of a Non-eDEP Electronic Submittal form and any other required attachments.

5/11 - This regulation finalizes provisions first filed as emergency regulations (effective February 12, 2009) to implement c. 268 of the Acts of 2008, also referred to as the "Oil Spill Act."

MassDEP/LSPA LSP Training Seminar

4/23 - On Thursday, April 30, 2009 registration will open for one session of the upcoming seminar "Level II Audits of Activity and Use Limitations (AULs) - A Case Study Approach"  to be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009, MassDEP Southeast Regional Office, Lakeville, MA.  The LSP Board has approved this course for 2 hours of LSP "DEP/Regulatory" continuing education credit (Course # 1376). This is a new course that has not previously been offered.  The purpose of this workshop is to discuss regulatory requirements and standard of care issues related to the audit of sites with Activity and Use Limitations (AULs) at disposal sites.

New Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) Round

3/24 - MassDEP is pleased to announce the Spring 2009 Round of the Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) Program for hazardous waste disposal sites.  Grants of up to $10,000 will be competitively awarded to selected communities and citizen groups to provide expert advice and public education about hazardous waste site cleanup activities.  The Application submittal deadline for this round is May 1, 2009.

Vapor Intrusion Audits: Identifying and Mitigating Unacceptable Impacts to Indoor Air

2/25 - MassDEP's Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup is undertaking an evaluation of conditions at certain sites with Response Action Outcomes filed prior to April 2006, where the concentration of PCE (tetrachloroethylene) in groundwater may exceed the current GW-2 standard, to determine whether there may be vapor intrusion into nearby occupied buildings.
