BWSC Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) Program: Spring 2008
MassDEP is pleased to announce the return of the Technical Assistance Grant (TAG) Program for hazardous waste disposal sites. Grants of up to $10,000 will be competitively awarded to selected communities and citizen groups to provide expert advice and public education about hazardous waste site cleanup activities.
As authorized by MGL c. 21E, and as established by the Massachusetts Contingency Plan ("MCP", 310 CMR 40.1450, et. seq.), TAGs are intended to:
- provide access to expert advice and technical assistance about disposal sites,
- encourage more effective participation in response actions by promoting access to and use of information, and
- allow community concerns related to the disposal site to be addressed.
Eligible Applicants are:
- groups of individuals who may be affected by oil and/or hazardous material from a disposal site,
- a city or town which may be affected by oil and/or hazardous material from a disposal site, and
- a district or other political body that owns or operates a public water supply system that may be affected by oil and/or hazardous materials from a disposal site.
Eligible Disposal Sites are sites that have been classified as Tier 1A, 1B, 1C or Tier II as well as those sites deemed Adequately Regulated pursuant to the MCP.
