Renewable Energy at Closed Landfills
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and
Department of Energy Resources (DOER) presented a workshop on June 17, 2009, for municipal officials, solid waste consultants and renewable energy project developers about the unique issues surrounding the development of solar or wind installations at closed landfills.
Workshop presentations, available for download below, addressed siting considerations, potential impacts on landfill caps, economic incentives currently available to minimize installation costs, and case studies of renewable energy installations on closed municipal landfills. Please note: if you require any of these presentations in an alternate format, please contact Jennifer Viveiros at 508-946-2739 or Jennifer.Viveiros@state.ma.us.
