Public Hearings: Motor Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance Program Regulations

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS
Notice is hereby given that the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP), under its authority pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 111, Sections 142A through 142M, and in conformance with M.G.L. Chapter 30A, will hold public hearings on amendments to 310 CMR 60.02, Regulations for the Enhanced Motor Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Program (IM). The current IM contract between the existing program contractor and MassDEP and the Registry of Motor Vehicles expires on September 30, 2008. Testing under the next program contract will commence on October 1, 2008 and MassDEP is proposing to amend its IM regulations to update the program and comply with federal requirements that have been enacted since the regulations were last amended. The purpose of the public hearings is to solicit comments on the proposed amendments to 310 CMR 60.02.
The public hearings will be conducted to receive public comment, both oral and written, on the proposed regulation.

Testimony may be presented orally and/or in writing at the public hearings. Following the hearings, written testimony will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. E.S.T. on March 28, 2008. Written testimony may also be sent to: Marion Marcucelli, MassDEP, Bureau of Waste Prevention, One Winter Street, 6th Floor, Boston, MA 02108.
