  • MassDEP has held two public meetings on the the annual update and status report for transit projects submitted by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) as required by 310 CMR 7.36 (2) (f) through (j), and MassDOT's petition to delay the Fairmount Line Improvement Project and 1,000 new park and ride parking spaces.

Unsold RGGI Allowances from the First Compliance Period

  • Department of Energy Resources (DOER) Commissioner Mark Sylvia has convened the RGGI Auction Advisory Committee to assist him with the Massachusetts RGGI program review that will take place in 2012. The first matter before the Committee is the retirement of unsold allowances from the first Compliance Period. DOER and DEP staff have prepared a recommendation for the Committee's consideration and the Committee will be accepting public comments until January 5, 2012.
Amendments: Building Capacity for Managing Organic Materials

  • MassDEP issued proposed amendments to its site assignment, solid waste management facility, and wastewater treatment facility operation, maintenance and pretreatment regulations that, when implemented, would facilitate significant expansion of the state's capacity to process and recycle organic materials. The agency's draft Solid Waste Master Plan calls for that capacity to be more than quadrupled to 450,000 tons per year by 2020.

Air Pollution Control Adhesives & Sealants Amendments & Definition Changes

  • MassDEP is proposing amendments to its Air Pollution Control Regulations that would add a new section governing adhesives and sealants as part of its strategy to reduce ground-level ozone, make related changes to pollution control technology requirements, and make a number of other technical corrections to improve consistency among state and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. Public hearings have been held and all comments received are being considered.
