MassDEP has proposed revisions to 310 CMR 10.00, the Wetlands Protection Act Regulations, and 314 CMR 9.00, the Water Quality Certification regulations, to address the need for work in wetlands in order to eradicate an infestation of Asian longhorned beetles, a destructive invasive species, per an order issued by the US Department of Agriculture and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation.

A public hearing on the proposed changes has been held and all comments have been recorded. The regulations are being reviewed and will be finalized shortly.

Proposed Hazardous Waste Regulations Adopting Federal LDR Program

310 CMR 30.000

MassDEP is proposing these regulations as part of its ongoing hazardous waste regulation authorization process. The key component of the regulatory proposal is adoption of the federal Land Disposal Restriction (LDR) program, found at 40 CFR Part 268, which would require waste handlers to treat hazardous waste or meet specified levels for hazardous constituents before disposing of waste on the land.

Public hearings have been held. The public comment deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009.
